3. A method of giving an object a unique color to give the user a visual indication of where they are. A common FileMaker example is when a user wants to apply this technique to alternating portal rows.
6. A term that refers to a server that does not have monitor attached. This has an added level of security because someone cannot get direct access to the machine. Generally, administrators access the server via remote administration or screen sharing software.
7. A FileMaker layout part that is used at the top of the screen. Normally used to put in title information that will appear on all screens and printouts.
8. FileMaker has the ability to recognize these links in the new Open URL script step. This means you can write the ability to open web pages into your scripts.

1. This keyboard key will go to the first record in list mode or to the top of the page in form view.
2. In a pier to pier sharing setup, the machine that first opens a database file that is being hosted on a network or the FileMaker Server that is sharing the database over the network.
3. In the Specify Button dialog box, you have the option to change the mouse cursor to this image when the cursor is above the button. This can be useful because it gives the user a visual indication that a graphic on the layout is actually a button.
4. This script step will end the script currently in progress as well as any subscripts or external scripts that may be running. Typically this is used after an IF statement branch so that if a set of conditions is true, the script will completely shutdown.
5. Often overlooked, FileMaker has a large source of information with the various options under this menu. You can search for terms and get a list of matching results. Depending on the search, you may have to dig through the results to get what you are looking for. It is a great supplement to the the manual and tutorial guides that come with FileMaker.
